You’re hearing about Portland’s newest homeless shelter downtown and frankly, it makes the problem worse.
It’s deceptively called a “low barrier” shelter. Let me translate that for you. It means the city lets drug addicted homeless keep using drugs and they won’t be checked for contraband like weapons.
Do you want THAT in any neighborhood?
President Trump plans to fix the problem that cities like Portland have only amplified while wasting literally hundreds of millions of dollars.
Barack Obama demanded that cities use his “housing first” model and not demand that addicts seek treatment. Obummer claimed it would solve the problem in ten years. That was 12 years ago and it not only did not fix the mess, it made it worse.
President Trump signed an executive order this week.
Crack down on drug use and move homeless off the streets or you don’t get the federal cash.
Track the pimps who traffick humans for sex. Ban urban camping. Move the mentally ill to treatment.
President Trump promises to solve the problem.
Portland’s so-called leaders want to keep the homeless addicted, on drugs, and on the streets. They call THAT compassionate.
Now tell me which solution YOU like better.
