Federal authorities have charged two individuals working at a medical clinic in Ontario, California, after an immigration enforcement operation was reportedly obstructed and agents were physically assaulted.
The incident unfolded earlier this month when Denis Guillen-Solis, an illegal migrant from Honduras, allegedly fled from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers and unlawfully entered the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center. Officials confirmed that Guillen-Solis had no association with the clinic and was not present there as a patient.
Despite this, some staff members at the clinic were said to have physically interfered with ICE officers during the apprehension, with reports indicating that force was used to shield the fugitive from arrest. U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, Bill Essayli, expressed concern over what was characterized as misleading media coverage of the situation.
It was stated by Essayli that the case exemplified a troubling trend in which certain media outlets were seen as promoting narratives intended to undermine federal law enforcement. It was further noted that, contrary to the claims made, the individual who had been arrested was not believed to have any legitimate reason to be at the facility. It was indicated that he had run inside for cover and that clinic staff had obstructed federal agents and resorted to physical aggression. It was made clear that regardless of one’s profession or location, interfering with federal operations or assaulting officers would be treated as a serious federal offense.
Initially believed to be on the run, Davila was taken into custody just a few hours after Ortega’s arrest on Friday morning. Public records indicate that she had been employed at the facility as a certified surgical technologist. According to the formal charges, Davila is accused of making physical contact with the officer and deliberately placing herself between the agent and Guillen-Solis during the confrontation.
ICE provided a detailed report of the incident, explaining that agents, wearing clearly marked bulletproof vests, had approached two targeted illegal immigrants after they exited a vehicle. One of them, identified as Guillen-Solis, allegedly fled on foot into a surgical center. During the chase, agents were reportedly assaulted when staff members pulled both the migrant and an ICE agent into the facility. Further efforts were made to barricade the entrance, obstruct government vehicles, and alert local police with claims that a kidnapping was taking place.
Video footage captured staff members shouting at ICE officers, with remarks such as this is private property and get your hands off him heard during the exchange. Democrat Assemblymember Michelle Rodriguez, who represents the Ontario district, appeared to side with the clinic employees, accusing ICE of kidnapping constituents and denouncing the actions of federal agents. While acknowledging support for lawful conduct, she condemned what she described as lawless actions, claiming the enforcement tactics did not reflect justice or safety.
This event comes after a contentious incident in Denver, where it was claimed that anti-ICE demonstrators helped an undocumented immigrant avoid government capture. The man, identified as Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, was under international alert after being found guilty of child rape in Italy. ICE Colorado claims that the fleeing time was made possible by warnings sent by local left-leaning organizations like Colorado Rapid Response.
These events have reignited concerns among many Americans over the ongoing undermining of immigration law enforcement efforts by progressive activists and elected officials who continue to prioritize political narratives over national security.
