President Trump asserted he is “allowed” to offer Ghislaine Maxwell a pardon or sentence commutation if she is able to provide incriminating evidence on Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplices.
However, the president said he has not discussed the matter with his administration.
This from slaynews.com.
Trump’s comments came as Todd Blanche, the second-highest-ranking Department of Justice (DOJ) official, has been meeting with Maxwell to determine whether she has any evidence which could be used by prosecutors to charge Epstein’s co-conspirators. Maxwell is currently serving 20 years in prison for her role in Epstein’s sex trafficking operation.
As he was departing the White House for Europe to meet with Scotland’s first minister, the president spoke to reporters.
A reporter asked:
Would you consider a pardon or a commutation for Ghislaine Maxwell?
The president stated:
It’s something I haven’t thought about.
Further:
I’m allowed to do it, but it’s something I have not thought about.

Trump’s comments come one day after Blanche met with Maxwell on Thursday at the U.S. attorney’s office in Tallahassee, Florida. In a statement earlier this week, Blanche said:
If Ghislane Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say.
Blanche continued interviewing Maxwell on Friday.
The president said of Blanche Friday morning:
He’s over there now.
Further:
I don’t know exactly what’s happening, but I certainly can’t talk about pardons now.
Another reporter asked:
Can you trust what she’s telling him?
Further:
She’s a convicted trafficker who’s eager to get out of prison?
The president said:
Well, you know, he’s a professional lawyer.
Further:
I think he’s been through things like this before.
Maxwell’s lawyer said she had answered “every one” of the government’s questions on Thursday.
NOTE: Trump and Epstein crossed paths in Palm Beach during the early 2000s. And Trump reportedly banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago in 2007 for harassing a club member’s teenage daughter.
In 2020, Trump said he was “not a fan” of Epstein and “threw him out” of Mar-a-Lago, adding that they had not spoken in 15 years.
Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell back in 2019. His mysterious death was ruled a “suicide.” He was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges after being accused of sexually abusing dozens of underage girls.
Epstein was also accused of procuring underage girls for prominent men on his private Pedophile Island in the Virgin Islands. However, prosecutors have so far refused to reveal the identities of the men whom Epstein trafficked underage girls to.
