British actor Micheal Ward, best known for his roles in Top Boy and Eddington, has been charged with multiple serious offenses, including rape and sexual assault, according to UK police.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed on July 25 that the Crown Prosecution Service authorized five charges against the 27-year-old: two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault. The charges stem from a single woman’s report involving alleged incidents that took place in January 2023.
Ward is set to appear before Thames Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 28.
Detective Superintendent Scott Ware, who is leading the investigation, said the woman involved is receiving ongoing support from specialist officers. “We know investigations of this nature can have significant impact on those who make reports,” he stated, noting that her identity will remain confidential.
Ward rose to prominence with his breakout role in the hit Netflix series Top Boy and has since starred in films including Blue Story, The Beautiful Game, The Book of Clarence, and most recently Eddington.
These are just allegations at this stage, and Ward has not entered a plea. The case is still under investigation.
