Monte Hawkins Led Immigration Vetting While Actively Defying Trump’s Border Agenda—Until Loomer Exposed Him
CBP leadership fired Monte Hawkins from his role as Director of the National Vetting Center (NVC) just two days after investigative journalist Laura Loomer exposed his anti-Trump, pro-DEI, and open borders agenda. As the official in charge of immigration vetting systems, Hawkins wielded enormous influence over who enters the country. Specifically, this included digital and physical screening systems used by DHS and other national security agencies. Before Loomer exposed him, Monte remained in his position while openly promoting views that directly conflicted with the Trump administration’s border policy.
Hawkins helped implement the National Vetting Center under a 2018 Trump directive. However, his political views and digital footprint stood in direct conflict with the Trump administration’s border security agenda.
Investigative journalist Laura Loomer outed Hawkins, who had served in high-level roles under Presidents Obama and Biden, for supporting pro-DEI policies, anti-ICE rhetoric, and endorsing open borders officials like DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Subsequently, CBP leadership terminated Hawkins two days after Loomer published her exposé.
“I posted my report two days ago. Now he’s FIRED,” Laura Loomer wrote on X on July 16, citing confirmation from DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin. “Another Biden holdover who hates Trump and loves illegals is GONE.”
Hawkins Locked Down His X Account and Scrubbed His Footprint When LOOMERED
Following the public exposure of his anti-Trump online activity, Monte Hawkins locked down his formerly public X account and scrubbed social media content. Hawkins wiped clean his LinkedIn activity, which was once full of endorsements for pro-DEI rhetoric and criticisms of ICE, soon after Loomer exposed him.
But screenshots of his posts, likes, and endorsements had already gone viral. Loomer’s report included evidence of Hawkins liking posts attacking ICE, boosting Biden bureaucrats, and amplifying anti-Trump rhetoric.
Rather than defend his views, Hawkins went into digital hiding. These evasive actions only further validated the concern: Hawkins was actively advancing an agenda that conflicted with the very administration he was serving.
Monte Hawkins Criticized Trump, Boosted Mayorkas, and Endorsed Anti-MAGA Candidates
Hawkins appeared in a 2023 Vanity Fair article where he blasted the idea of a second Trump term, calling it a “revenge machine” and warning that Trump loyalists “have a list.” His remarks closely parroted the language of anti-Trump resistance networks.
On LinkedIn, Hawkins praised DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and pro-DEI officials removed under Trump. He also engaged with posts from Biden allies like Eileen Laubacher, who is running for Congress in Colorado to oppose Rep. Lauren Boebert—a staunch MAGA conservative.
Hawkins even liked a viral post accusing ICE of staging a “national police riot” in Los Angeles, attacking law enforcement for enforcing immigration law, despite CBP and ICE working in tandem.
Why Was a Biden-Aligned Bureaucrat Leading CBP Vetting?
The National Vetting Center is responsible for evaluating all noncitizens entering the U.S. and alerting agencies to potential threats. For that reason, the mission requires ideological alignment with administration priorities.
Under President Trump, securing the border, dismantling DEI infrastructure, and removing Biden-era holdovers are top priorities. Hawkins, with his record of supporting open borders, praising Mayorkas, and denouncing Trump, clearly violated that trust.
His endorsement of posts mocking ICE and celebrating the return of dismantled agencies like the U.S. Institute of Peace—despite Trump court victories to restructure it—revealed his deep resistance to Trump policy.
Monte Hawkins Has Been Fired by the Trump Administration
Laura Loomer’s reporting triggered a swift response. On July 16, she confirmed through a DHS official that the Trump administration fired Hawkins just two days after she posted her article.
“Monte Hawkins never should have had a security clearance,” Loomer stated on X. “He never should have been allowed to work in the Trump admin, let alone have access to our national security systems.”
War Room with Steve Bannon, Real America’s Voice, and several independent platforms featured the story. Loomer exposed Hawkins, and the administration fired him.
Loomer Exposed the Security Threat Hiding Inside CBP
The firing of Monte Hawkins is a significant victory for national security accountability. In fact, his role gave him access to sensitive systems that directly determined who could enter the country.
Had Loomer not exposed him, Hawkins would still be in power, quietly steering CBP vetting with a bias against the President’s immigration agenda.
