The administration has recently removed barriers preventing Nvidia from distributing certain advanced AI chips to firms in China. However, the AI Action Plan indicates that it is still mulling over certain limitations on the sale of US technology to foreign rivals, by advising the government to “tackle deficiencies in semiconductor manufacturing export controls.”

The strategy further delves into nurturing scientific inquiry and exploration in AI advancement, channeling resources into biosecurity as AI aids in discovering novel treatments for ailments, and establishing the essential legal structure to counteract deceptive deepfakes.

Executing this strategy and “Triumphing in the AI competition” will guarantee the nation’s safety, edge, and financial prosperity, as stated in an introduction by Sacks, the president’s science and technology advisor Michael Kratsios, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “The chance that looms ahead is both exhilarating and daunting,” they write. “It is within our grasp, or it may slip away.”
