An “angry” Kentucky man allegedly opened fire on a person who knocked on his door just before 5 p.m. Sunday, telling police he was “bothered” by being awakened and “immediately” started blasting, according to cops.
Michael Rodgers, 62, is due in court Wednesday in Jefferson County on charges of second-degree assault for the evening shooting, according to online records.
He is accused of opening fire on a person he knows — who has not been identified — and authorities say Rodgers gave a statement after receiving his Miranda rights confirming what happened.

“Overreacted,” Rodgers allegedly said about his alleged actions when being interviewed by police, according to The Louisville Herald, which cites Rodgers’ arrest report.
The sexagenarian allegedly admitted to being “angry” about the door knocking, which prompted him to brandish a gun and open fire. Cops report that the victim did not pose a threat of any kind to Rodgers. It’s unclear if anything was said between the two. Police did not respond to Law&Crime’s requests for comment Tuesday.
Rodgers shot the acquaintance in the leg at his apartment in the 9600 block of Westport Road, according to cops.
Officers were called and found the victim bleeding out, which led to a tourniquet being applied. Surgery is said to be required.
According to the Herald, a local judge refused to lower Rodgers’ bond on Monday at his arraignment out of “concern for others in the community.” He was granted a $100,000 bond and is due for another hearing Wednesday.
