A 28-year-old woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the brutal murder of her girlfriend in what prosecutors say was a staged suicide.
Alexia Telles pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the 2023 death of 26-year-old Annissa Ellen-Williams, according to a July 10 press release from the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office in Illinois.
The chilling case began in February 2023, when Telles showed up at a home in Oswego with Ellen-Williams, who had suffered a severe head injury. Despite desperate efforts by medics, the young woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities quickly grew suspicious. An investigation uncovered that the couple had gotten into a heated argument while Ellen-Williams was behind the wheel. The details that followed were even more disturbing.
Forensic evidence, digital records, and Telles’ own statements pointed to a horrifying conclusion: Telles had deliberately killed Ellen-Williams—then tried to make it look like a suicide.
“These cases can be difficult to prosecute because only two people know exactly what occurred that fateful night,” said Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis. “But the tireless work by law enforcement and the Coroner’s Office helped us bring justice for Ms. Ellen-Williams.”
Weis added that the sentence brings some closure to the victim’s family, sparing them the agony of a trial. “Telles has accepted responsibility for the heartless act she committed against someone she professed to care so much for.”
Telles will serve all 30 years of her sentence with no chance of early release. After her prison term, she’ll remain under mandatory supervision for another three years.
