The chances of a pregnancy with triplets are rare, and opportunities for pregnancy help organizations to help women pregnant with multiple babies are also rare.
According to 2023 birth data released in March by the Centers for Disease Control, the number of triplet births in America was 2,505 with triplet and higher multiple births averaging 73.8 per 100,000 live births. The number of twin births was more than 110,000, averaging 30.7 per 1,000 live births. And according to RaisingMultiples.org, the chance of a woman in the United States becoming pregnant with triplets is 1 in 6,889, and the chance becoming pregnant with twins is 1 in 83 pregnancies.
A pregnancy medical clinic in Missouri is assisting its second client carrying natural triplets in a decade and is also currently working with another woman pregnant with twins.

Nastassia was already a single mom to two children. Realizing she was pregnant, she sought help from the Pregnancy Resource Center of Rolla (PRC of Rolla) in Rolla, Mo., in February 2024 where she learned via ultrasound she wasn’t carrying just one baby, but she was pregnant with three!
Despite the challenges of raising five children on her own, Nastassia chose to continue her pregnancy, and her significant other stepped up to his responsibility. The couple lived in different towns, so Nastassia made another important decision – she moved to the community where her boyfriend lived, which also put her closer to her family of origin. PRC of Rolla CEO, Joe Dalton was able to visit Nastassia and her seven children and her partner recently, and had his photo taken with the babies.
“I wanted to recreate the image I had with the first set of triplets with the second set of triplets, and we were able to do that,” Joe said.
The babies were set to turn a year-old July 25; he told Pregnancy Help News.
Joe’s daughter-in-law Faith Dalton served as Nastassia’s advocate and said Nastassia planned to parent when she first came to the clinic.
“She seemed to be at peace with being pregnant,” Faith recalled. “And then we got in the ultrasound room.”
When the image showing the three babies appeared on the screen, Nastassia burst out, “You’re lying! You’re lying!” she said.
“I said, ‘These images don’t lie,’” Faith told Pregnancy Help News. “It was three babies, as clear as day. She was crying and screaming – you could tell it was a very big deal.”
Faith said the emotional aspect caused her to step out of the room momentarily so she could gather herself.

Nastassia contacted family members from the ultrasound room to share the news, and those she spoke with were also overwhelmed with emotion and some seemed excited, Faith remembered. However, the reality of what was before her, carrying triplets and what that could mean for her body, weighed on the young woman. Faith said she asked Nastassia if the knowledge she was carrying triplets impacted her decision to continue the pregnancy.
“She took a moment to think about it, and then she said, ‘No.’ She made a very brave decision right then and there,” Faith said.
Other women with multiple babies served by PRC of Rolla include Mariah, a woman whose pregnancies resulted in twins on several occasions, and Janey, the first triplet mom. She was homeless and already a single mother. She considered abortion but upon learning about BRIDGES, PRC of Rolla’s maternity and transitional home, changed her mind. Her triplets are now in elementary school, Joe said.
Additionally, Joe, Faith and the other staff and volunteers at the clinic are currently helping another mom who is carrying twins.
PRC of Rolla helps these and their other clients in several different ways. In addition to BRIDGES, parenting classes, materials assistance, and medical STI testing, the clinic created a program to give a car to those who need reliable transportation.

“We have the attitude that no mountain is too high to climb,” Joe said. “Anything this family needs, this situation needs, in order to save this baby, or save these babies – that’s kind of like a motto for us. We never say ‘no.’ We know God has plenty of money. We know God can do anything. So, we always have that attitude.”
Self-sufficiency for clients is the goal. When women live at BRIDGES, they go through the Dave Ramsey program Financial Peace University. Janey and her family now own their own home, Joe said.
Estimates regarding poverty among single-parent households, in particular those headed by single women, range from 30 to 40 percent. Carrying multiple babies can cause women to consider abortion. Some women even choose to abort one baby when carrying multiples in an act known in the medical world as multifetal pregnancy reduction.

Thanks to pregnancy help centers like Rolla, the variety of resources available to pregnant women helps those clients realize they can continue to carry their babies, multiple or single.
“Nastassia is a courageous hero,” Joe wrote to supporters of PRC of Rolla in a newsletter story about her and her triplets. “She bravely rejected abortion.”
