A McDonald’s in Illinois turned into a crime scene after a workplace dispute spiraled into a shocking act of violence—leaving two people shot and a manager behind bars.
It all started when Kathy Bledsoe, 44, the on-duty manager at a McDonald’s in Belleville, reportedly asked a teenage employee to take out the trash during her shift. The teen refused, prompting Bledsoe to tell her to clock out and go home. Instead of heading out, the girl called her mom.
According to police, the teen’s mother, 35-year-old Tynika R. McKinzie, showed up at the restaurant with another juvenile. What happened next turned into a scene no one could’ve expected.
Authorities say McKinzie and the teen marched behind the counter and into the back office, where a physical altercation erupted. McKinzie allegedly struck Bledsoe in the face and head before Bledsoe pulled a handgun and shot her in the leg.
Another person was reportedly injured during the incident as well, though details remain limited.
Police arrived at the South Belt East location just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday. McKinzie was rushed to the hospital for treatment while Bledsoe was taken into custody at the scene. Both women are now facing charges—Bledsoe for aggravated battery with a firearm, and McKinzie for battery stemming from the attack.
“This was an unnecessary incident that could have been resolved without punches being thrown or a gun being used,” the Belleville Police Department said in a statement. “Unfortunately, it seems more people are turning to violence without thinking about the consequences their actions have on the community.”
Bledsoe was set to be transferred to the St. Clair County Jail pending a detention hearing.
The altercation comes just days after a similar tragedy at a McDonald’s in Michigan, where a 26-year-old employee was arrested for fatally stabbing her manager after a workplace dispute.
