After only one year of dating, problems started to arise. Ivanka was raised a Catholic, whereas Jared is an Orthodox Jew. There is a rumor that Jared’s parents were not happy with the relationship, especially considering the religious differences. Ivanka ultimately made the decision to convert, but only after going through a rigorous procedure in which she also promised to raise their kids as Orthodox Jews.
Ivanka says the conversion process is a personal matter and rarely discusses it. They are “quite observant” and keep kosher, according to her. Despite the fact that religion caused a breach at first, Ivanka now claims that Judaism has helped her family stay together.
