Late-night Democrat activist Stephen Colbert has been cancelled by CBS. The truth teller who spoke truth to power when that power handed him left-wing talking points and he truthfully said he would repeat them will no longer be allowed to do so after next May. Other Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) are demanding investigations into why CBS would cancel a show that was losing tens of millions of dollars a year, but Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy saved them the time and energy with his explanation of why he was cancelled.
Colbert was getting paid $12 million a year.
CBS was losing $40 million a year on his show.
Colbert attacked the network that was paying him $12 million a year while he was losing them $40 million a year.
Buh-bye.
This started back in 2024, when CBS (allegedly) deceptively edited a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris that was so disastrous, hearing her answer questions verbatim would have likely cost her the election… which she ultimately lost anyway. Trump sued, calling it election interference. CBS settled for $16 million ($24 million less than they lost on Stephen Colbert) because that was less damaging than going to discovery and allowing the Trump campaign access to internal documents. Anyone who has been privy to the Slack channels of media outlets where journalismers speak freely about how much they hate half the country that has a different opinion from them can understand why CBS would do so.
Now the media and the left (but I repeat myself) demand investigations and claim it’s “chilling” how CBS would “bend the knee” to Donald Trump by…checks notes…keeping Colbert on the air until next May. In other words, they are bending the knee to Trump by allowing Colbert to stay on the air for ten more months to repeat Democrat talking points attacking Trump.
Colbert bit the hand that feeds him by attacking the network. CBS decided they didn’t feel like losing money anymore, and to add insult to injury, isn’t even replacing Colbert. They are just cancelling late-night comedy… which hasn’t been about comedy for over a decade.
