New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign office in the Bronx was reportedly vandalized with red paint and a sign just after midnight on Monday morning, accusing the lawmaker of funding “genocide in Gaza.”
The message was displayed on a building that hosts her campaign office on Herschell Street in Westchester Square, New York. The office was closed at the time, and the congresswoman was in Plattsburgh, New York, on Sunday night, per ABC New York.
“We see a lot of this stuff, we’re going to review our cameras and that of the building, too,” Oliver Hidalgo, Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign manager, told the outlet. “We’ve been in touch with the landlord and folks and we’ve had a lot of folks who have been reaching out, volunteers who want to help and clean up, so they’ll be doing that. I just got here, so I don’t know if there’s anything else beyond this, but the number one priority is making sure people are okay.”
