This time, it is former first lady Jill Biden’s chief of staff who has pleaded the Fifth, refusing to answer questions from the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about the cover-up of former President Joe Biden’s health.
The Hill reports that Anthony Bernal pleaded the Fifth when he met with lawmakers behind closed doors on Wednesday.
As even members of the left are pointing out, all of this pleading of the Fifth sure does make the Biden administration look guilty.

Here’s what happened:
U.S. Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the committee’s chairman, has provided some insight into what happened behind closed doors.
The Hill reports:
Committee Chair Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) said Anthony Bernal pleaded the Fifth when GOP lawmakers asked him whether former President Biden ever instructed him to lie about his health or “if any unelected official or family members executed the duties of the president.”
Comer alleged that Bernal did this “to shield himself from criminal liability.”
Bernal’s lawyer, however, claims:
The Committee has sought testimony from Mr. Bernal for nearly two years, without any
actual evidence of wrongdoing by Mr. Bernal. Most recently, the Committee seeks Mr. Bernal’s testimony based on a purported controversy regarding use of the autopen at the conclusion of President Biden’s term. President Biden has already confirmed that he personally made all decisions concerning his grants of clemency.
Is it really that simple?
What are they hiding?
To the surprise of many, even members of the ABC program “The View” are calling foul on this one.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said:
When they brought the doctor in of Biden’s I wasn’t surprised he pled the Fifth. There’s HIPAA reason, health reasons that he won’t talk about things that are doctor/patient confidential. This individual Anthony Bernal was a senior adviser to the first lady these are some of the questions he pled the Fifth to. Did you advise Biden to pardon Hunter? Was Biden fit to exercise his duties as president? Pled the Fifth. Did any elected official or family member execute duties of the president? Pled the Fifth. Did Biden ever instruct you to lie about his health? Pled the Fifth. That’s making people want to ask more questions.
When a co-host asked her “why are they doing it,” Griffin replied, “It sounds like they’re hiding something. Those are pretty basic questions.”
It is unclear whether Americans are ever going to know the truth about this situation.
Congressional Republicans are now, according to reports, considering whether or not to call Jill Biden and other members of the Biden family to testify.
