President Donald Trump has directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to seek the release of grand jury transcripts in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
The Justice Department is expected to file a motion Friday asking a judge to unseal the testimony, though it remains unclear when, or if, the transcripts will become public.
The move follows growing backlash from Trump supporters after a joint DOJ-FBI memo concluded there was no evidence Epstein blackmailed powerful figures, kept a client list, or was murdered in jail. The memo sparked outrage online, with some calling it a cover-up.
Trump has fought back against the criticism, calling the accusations a “hoax” fueled by Democrats. “If there was a ‘smoking gun’ on Epstein, why didn’t the Dems… use it? BECAUSE THEY HAD NOTHING!!!” he posted on Truth Social Friday morning.
Before joining the administration, Bondi had publicly called for transparency, saying the Epstein list “should have come out a long time ago.”
Though new Epstein documents were released in February, they included few surprises. Many had already surfaced during Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial.
Trump said Bondi has his full backing: “She’s handled it very well… whatever she thinks is credible she should release.” Bondi confirmed her office is “ready to move the court tomorrow” to unseal the grand jury material.
