In recent months, social media platforms have witnessed the rise of a dance trend which began in Indonesia known as “aura farming.”
While one Democrat congressman recently tried to get on board with the viral phenomenon, the lawmaker’s critics want his video gone.
Video met with derision
That’s according to Fox News, which described a dance performance that was posted to TikTok earlier this week by Virginia Democrat Rep. Suhas Subramanyam.

The video clip shows Subramanyam wearing a pair of sunglasses as he stands atop a car in the United States Capitol subway system.
When the car begins to move forward, the lawmaker can be seen frantically waving his arms as he looks at the camera. In the video’s caption, Subramanyam declared that he is working “to hold this administration accountable.”
Fox News pointed out that the reaction to Subramanyam’s stunt was largely negative, with one individual remarking, “Representatives have got to stop doing this. Actually do something.”
Some Democrats unimpressed
The cable news network noted how even some social media users, who apparently shared Subramanyam’s opposition to President Donald Trump’s administration, were unimpressed by his antics.
“Not trying to be disrespectful. But? Less of this sh–. More fire on the floor please. I get wanting to do outreach. But this?” one figure wrote.
“Isn’t the action an average American needs from their representatives right now. We’re approaching no taxation without representation territory here. Do better,” the critic went on to add.
Another person stated, “Introduce a new amendment for every one performative TikTok a Congress person posts they have to cosign 3 bills that work to limit the power of money in politics.”
Subramanyam slammed for not supporting impeachment
Meanwhile, others took issue with Subramanyam’s decision last month to vote in favor of blocking a resolution from Texas Democrat Rep. Al Green which called for the president’s impeachment.
The congressman justified his vote during a June 25 appearance on CSPAN, stating, “This impeachment would never have gotten the votes to pass anyway.”
“We need to make sure that we’re not just trying to impeach the president every week for everything he does and instead picking our battles when it comes to that,” he insisted.
