FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Over three years after the fatal shooting of a man at a local store, two suspects have been apprehended in connection with the crime. Authorities have confirmed that the alleged shooter is being transported to Broward County to face murder charges.
The suspects, identified as siblings, were taken into custody last week. The brother, Warren Pollack, 24, is accused of the murder, while his sister, Juanita Pollack, faces charges for allegedly assisting him after the incident.
The shooting, which took place at Tony’s Market on Northwest 22nd Road, was caught on surveillance cameras. Police allege that Warren Pollack shot Steven Black at point-blank range.
In the aftermath of Black’s death, his family made public appeals for information, hoping for justice. Their wait appears to be nearing an end with these recent arrests.
Warren Pollack was captured in Georgia by U.S. Marshals, while Juanita was arrested in Broward County shortly after. She is charged as an accessory for allegedly aiding her brother while knowing his potential involvement in the crime.
The site of the shooting, Tony’s Market, has since been demolished. Black’s family had filed a civil lawsuit, claiming the store’s operators failed to ensure customer safety, citing numerous shootings at the location prior to the incident. The lawsuit was settled, leading to the store’s closure.
The family has since relocated but continues to honor Steven’s memory through a scholarship for local high school graduates, reflecting his passion for community service.
Fort Lauderdale police acknowledged the cooperation of Miami Gardens and Miami Beach police departments, as well as the use of advanced ballistic imaging technology, in apprehending the suspects.
Warren Pollack is expected to appear before a judge in Broward County soon.
