Now, finally, Jeremy Calvin Lawson, the man accused of violently assaulting independent journalist Cam Higby during last month’s anti-ICE protest, is in custody. But the road to justice has only just begun.

Let’s be clear: this wasn’t just a random act of violence. This was a politically motivated attack targeting a journalist whose only crime was documenting the truth. Higby was doing the job legacy media refuses to do—covering the radical left’s war on law and order. For that, he was bloodied, concussed, and terrorized for weeks. The message from the mob was unmistakable: “If you expose us, we’ll destroy you.”

According to the Seattle Police Department, Lawson was arrested by the Community Response Group while attempting to go rafting in Sultan, Washington. Floating down the river with a cooler in hand—like he didn’t have a care in the world. That’s the level of impunity these thugs operate under in Democrat-run cities. They know the system is stacked in their favor. They expect to walk free, even after committing felony assaults.

And who can blame them? For weeks after the attack, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office sat on the case. Seattle Police had already recommended felony charges, yet prosecutors dragged their feet. Why? Because in leftist enclaves like King County, political violence is only prosecuted when it comes from the right. If a conservative had laid hands on a progressive activist, you can bet the arrest would’ve made national headlines within hours.

But when a leftist assaults an independent journalist? Crickets. Or worse—excuses.

Let’s not forget, this same type of ideological blind spot allowed Antifa and BLM to burn American cities throughout 2020 with barely a slap on the wrist.
