A CBS News reporter has claimed that he has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from the attempt to assassinate President Trump in Butler, Pa. Last year.
Scott MacFarlane says he received a diagnosis in the immediate aftermath of the July 13, 2024 shooting, not because of the act of violence against Trump, but because he believes Trump supporters were about to violently pounce on all the reporters covering the event and murder them.
Yes, he is seriously claiming this.

Speaking to Chuck Todd, another former legacy media propagandist who now “Toddcasts” from his living room, MacFarlane said that had Trump not got to his feet and punched the air, the crowd would have gone feral and started to murder journalists.
“For those of us there, it was such a horror because you saw an emerging America. And it wasn’t the shooting, Chuck. I got diagnosed with PTSD within 48 hours,” MacFarlane blathered.
“I got put on trauma leave. Not because, I think, of the shooting, but because you could — you saw it in the eyes, the reaction of the people. They were coming for us. If he didn’t jump up with his fist, they were going to come kill us!” he asserted.
MacFarlane continued, “Many of us on press row, as we talked about this on our text chains for weeks after, were quite confident we’d be dead if he didn’t get back up.”
“There was a subset — not everybody — there’s dozens of people in the crowd who started coming for us, saying, ‘You did this. This is your fault. You caused this. You killed him.’ And they’re going to beat us with their hands,” he further declared.
“I mean, they were going to — they were going to kill us. And respectfully, the Secret Service had bigger issues than protecting us. When he jumped up triumphantly, it saved us,” he added.
“But that’s the thing. I can’t eliminate from my mind’s eye the look in their faces,” he continued, proclaiming “That’s what America is right now. It’s not rational. It’s an irrational thought to think the media shot somebody from atop a building.”
Absolutely unhinged.
Yet Trump actually got shot, fraction of a second from having his head blown off and then went on to win the election in record numbers and is still fighting with every breath he has, never backing down.

MacFarlane doesn’t care to acknowledge that supporters were in fear for their lives with several wounded by the bullets that missed Trump, and firefighter Cory Comperatore killed after heroically covering his family and taking the bullet for them.
Mr. MacFarlane, perhaps you should better reflect on why so many Americans felt the media was responsible. But I seriously doubt you possess the introspective abilities needed to do that.
