Once again, leadership in Ukraine is getting a makeover.
We have seen some top officials in the military replaced, as well as top advisers for President Volodymyr Zelensky.
This week, a report surfaced that Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal had announced his resignation via Telegram.
I’m out
Shmyhal posted to Telegram, “I am tendering my resignation from the post of the Prime Minister of Ukraine.”
Zelensky already has someone else in mind to fill the position.
He has reportedly offered the job to Yuliia Svyrydenko, the current deputy prime minister who has also served as the country’s first female economy minister.
If the name sounds a bit familiar, that is because she made headlines here in America when she took the lead in negotiating the mineral rights deal with the United States.
The change will not be official until Ukraine’s parliament holds a vote on the government shuffle being proposed by Zelensky.
Ukraine has quickly become top of mind in this country again after President Donald Trump flipped and announced that he would be backing the provision of continued support for Ukraine, likely in the billions of dollars.
After Trump made the announcement, Zelensky stated, “To us it is very important, in the context of what is happening now, to strengthen ties with the U.S.”
My prediction when Trump took office was that he would have this war wrapped up by the end of summer, but that no longer seems likely.
Trump took ownership of the conflict when, during the election, he claimed he was the only one who could end it and would have it done on day one, if not before he took office.
Trump has since stated that those statements were hyperbole, but that was not how he and his surrogates played it off.
We were repeatedly told that Trump was the only person in the entire country who could end this war and stop the American taxpayer from pouring money into Ukraine, and now it is Trump who is using our tax dollars to re-up Zelensky.
This will be a huge hit against Trump among his supporters, and quite frankly, it should be, because I warned everyone these ridiculous overpromises would come back to haunt him… and now they are.
I realize that this is not attributable entirely to Trump, but that is irrelevant as far as the media and Dems are concerned because he was the one who made the promise.
This is something that Dems can really sink their teeth into when it comes to hurting the GOP in the midterm elections, and if we lose the House, we are likely going to lose the White House in 2028.
I am not trying to be gloom and doom here, but history tells us that is how this all unfolds.
Mr. Trump, get this war concluded, any way you possibly can, but get a peace deal in place before that calendar ticks over again.
