If you had told me 23 years ago, when I first met Jeffrey Epstein, that I’d still be reporting on him in 2025, I’d have been stunned and appalled. Back then very few people knew who he was, and he made my life hell, as I’ve written many times over.
If you’d told me one year ago, that Epstein’s ghost would try to interfere with the launch of The Idaho Four, I’d be less shocked because Epstein’s mythology refuses to die. But I’d have been just as appalled.
And yet, here we are.
Yesterday was publication day for The Idaho Four and, as those of you watched my segment with Jim Acosta yesterday may have noticed, I found myself talking equally about the book – and Jeffrey Epstein.
Last night I did a segment on Newsmax on both topics.
This morning I spent one hour and thirty minutes with Megyn Kelly talking both. (I will say this for Megyn Kelly: her 40 minute introduction was the most in-depth analysis of the outstanding questions about Epstein that I’ve heard yet.)
But, also: Jim Patterson and I had a great segment about The Idaho Four on Good Morning America at the start of the day. And also one at the end.
(I was very, very touched when Kayna Whitworth, the presenter, mentioned at the end of the morning segment that Patterson told her that of all the non-fiction books he’s co-authored, this one is the one he’s happiest with.)
And there were excerpts of the book in Rolling Stone and Town & Country.
On Friday I taped a show with Pullman radio host, Evan Ellis who is one of the lead characters in the book.
Yesterday, I gave this first in-depth interview about the book to Jessica, because it was her reporting on the murders Moscow in her newsletter, that drew me in to the story.
So, when I thought about writing a book, I checked with her first, ahead, even, of Patterson, because I didn’t want to step on her toes. (Jessica and I are friends, as many of you know. We met covering Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial.)
I also talked earlier today with legal analyst Adam Klasfeld, who, as usual, raised questions no one else has thought to ask about both “the Epstein files” and the Idaho Four. I’ll post that conversation later.
Tomorrow brings a ton more TV hits and podcasts, as part of the media rollout.
