The globalist left ruling Canada is expanding its policy of killing Canadian citizens by suicide under the misleading label of euthanasia, or “merciful killing.” The primary targets in the crosshairs of this killer agenda are people living with disabilities, some of whom may not want to die if not pressured by the blood-thirsty regime.
On Tuesday (July 8), LifeSite News reported on the state of affairs surrounding disabled Canadian citizens and the Canadian government’s expanding practice of pushing them into medically assisted suicide. A gut-wrenching account in this story came from Samantha Smith, British advocate for victims and survivors of sexual abuse. On her X page early this month, Smith shared an account from a family member who works as a nurse in Canada.
By the relative’s account, a mentally disabled man was literally forced into death via heavy doses of drugs that made him unable to speak for himself or resist as they imposed on him the so-called merciful death. This happened because his family had decided that it was his time to go, even though he was neither terminally ill nor very old. Smith wrote that her relative, the nurse, was forced by the law to end the life of the disabled man.
This glimpse into Canada’s killer regime is terrifying, to say the least. The article by the LifeSite News discussed the horrors of the Canadian law on killing people via assisted suicide, noting that the updated version of this law is set to take effect in 2027. The updated version makes “those suffering solely from disability or mental illness” eligible for such killings. The story cited concerns expressed earlier this year by the U.N. Conventions on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which concluded that Canada was going for “state-sponsored eugenics.”
While the Canadian regime’s expanding circle of death makes a case for international resistance, liberal-run states in America are passing their own versions of assisted suicide laws. On July 9, Father Brian Jordan wrote in The Tablet, the newspaper of the Diocese of Brooklyn (NY), about the Medical Aid in Dying Act passed by the New York State Senate in April this year. The legislation allows any “terminally ill adult,” one who has been given a prognosis of six months or less to live, to ask for life-ending medication from their physician or for medical aid in dying.
The Governor of NY, Kathy Hochul, has the authority to veto the bill, but the question is: would she do it? Father Jordan wrote:
How is it suicide if two medical doctors are helping the terminally ill patient take these fatal medications? This is not death with dignity. It is a travesty of moral certitude. What is next on the minds of state lawmakers?
New York is one of the 12 states in the country to pass this kind of euthanasia law. Others in the list include California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Maine, Washington, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.
Earlier this month, The Denver Post reported that a group of disability rights organizations in Colorado has challenged the state’s assisted suicide law on the grounds that it discriminates against people with disabilities by allowing them to commit suicide instead of preventing them from doing so.
