Ron DeSantis just made a move that had leftists screaming.
The Florida Governor answered Donald Trump’s call to action.
And all hell broke loose after Ron DeSantis delivered one devastating blow to PBS and NPR.
DeSantis cuts $6 million in taxpayer funding to woke public media
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just showed the rest of the country how to drain the swamp.
He took his red pen and slashed nearly $6 million in taxpayer funding to PBS and NPR affiliates across the Sunshine State.
The cuts included $1.3 million for public radio stations and $4.4 million for public television stations – money that won’t be going to fund left-wing propaganda anymore.¹
“Done in Florida,” DeSantis posted on X after President Trump demanded Republicans defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

This wasn’t some last-minute decision either.
DeSantis and his team have been planning this move since April, when they announced it was time to stop bankrolling biased media outlets.
The cuts mean each public radio station loses about $100,000 and each TV station loses over $370,000 – real money that was being wasted on partisan programming.²
Florida’s Voice founder and CEO Brendon Leslie had been pushing for this exact move since March.
“The problem is these stations do not exist simply to provide crucial disaster and weather alerts to residents – they run headlines and stories attacking Republicans in Tallahassee with the impression it’s done on behalf of Democrats,” Leslie wrote.³
“Florida needs to, once again, lead on a national issue: defund NPR and PBS.”
Trump threatens Republicans who won’t defund public broadcasting
President Trump made it crystal clear where he stands on taxpayer-funded media.
“It is very important that all Republicans adhere to my Recissions Bill and, in particular, DEFUND THE CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING (PBS and NPR), which is worse than CNN & MSDNC put together,” Trump posted on Truth Social.⁴
But Trump didn’t stop there.
He delivered an ultimatum that should have every wishy-washy Republican paying attention.
“Any Republican that votes to allow this monstrosity to continue broadcasting will not have my support or Endorsement,” Trump warned.
That’s the kind of leadership America needs.
No more games, no more excuses – either you’re with the American people or you’re with the swamp.
The House already passed Trump’s rescissions bill in June, cutting $1.1 billion in funding that had been approved for public broadcasters.⁵
That’s $1.1 billion of taxpayer money that won’t be going to fund left-wing attacks on conservatives anymore.
The Senate is expected to vote on the rescissions bill next week, and every Republican better be paying attention to Trump’s warning.
Public broadcasting exposed as partisan propaganda machine
The dirty little secret about PBS and NPR is finally coming out.
These aren’t neutral news sources – they’re Democrat propaganda machines funded by your tax dollars.
Trump administration officials have been calling out PBS and NPR for pushing “left-wing propaganda” and violating their supposed nonpartisan mandate.
Trump himself put it perfectly: “I think it’s very unfair – it’s been very biased, the whole group. The kind of money that’s being wasted – it’s a very biased view… I’d be honored to see it end.”⁶
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene summed up what millions of Americans are thinking: “NPR and PBS have wasted millions of taxpayer dollars pushing Democrat talking points and alienating over half the country.”⁷
Meanwhile, PBS and NPR are throwing tantrums like spoiled children who just got their allowance cut off.
They’re filing lawsuits and whining about their First Amendment rights.
But here’s the thing – nobody’s stopping them from broadcasting.
They just have to find their own funding instead of picking the pockets of hardworking Americans who disagree with their political agenda.
PBS President Paula Kerger is crying that stations will go off the air in rural areas, but that’s just scare tactics.
If these stations provided real value to their communities, they’d find local support.
The fact that they can’t survive without government handouts tells you everything you need to know about how much people actually want their programming.
The beginning of the end for taxpayer-funded media
This is exactly what draining the swamp looks like.
No more forcing conservative taxpayers to fund left-wing propaganda.
No more government subsidies for media outlets that spend their time attacking the very people paying their bills.
DeSantis showed other Republican governors how it’s done by taking decisive action in Florida.
Now it’s time for the rest of the country to follow suit.
The Senate vote next week will separate the real conservatives from the Washington establishment types.
Trump has made it clear – there’s no middle ground on this issue.
Either you’re with the American people who are sick of funding biased media, or you’re with the swamp creatures who want to keep the gravy train rolling.
House Speaker Mike Johnson gets it, saying the cuts will “direct taxpayer dollars toward priorities that truly benefit the American people.”⁸
That’s exactly right.
Instead of wasting money on PBS and NPR’s partisan programming, that funding can go toward things that actually help Americans.
The media landscape has changed completely since 1967 when the Corporation for Public Broadcasting was created.
Americans have countless options for news and entertainment now.
There’s no justification for forcing taxpayers to subsidize outlets that hate their values and attack their political representatives.
DeSantis just proved that Republican governors can take action without waiting for Washington.
Other red state governors better be taking notes.
The American people are done with their tax dollars funding the very media outlets that despise them.
It’s time to cut off the money spigot once and for all.
