According to the AP, she collected more than $600,000 in workers’ compensation and medical reimbursements.

While on disability, Brown was repeatedly observed engaging in physically demanding activities. Surveillance and witness reports placed her at the Stagecoach Music Festival in April 2023, where she was seen dancing and drinking. She also ran in multiple 5K races, skied in Big Bear and Mammoth, visited Disneyland, attended sports events, and took online courses—all while claiming sensitivity to light and inability to use electronic devices, as reported by Fox 11 Los Angeles.

Legal Fallout Expands

The Westminster City Council approved legal action against Brown on July 8, 2025, in an attempt to recover the fraudulently claimed funds along with investigative and legal costs. Mayor Chi Charlie Nguyen said the lawsuit reinforces the city’s stance on protecting public money and supporting truly injured personnel, according to ABC 7.

Criminally, Brown has been charged with 15 felony counts including perjury, insurance fraud, and presenting false material statements. An additional enhancement for aggravated white-collar crime involving over $100,000 raises the stakes to a maximum 22-year prison sentence if convicted, as confirmed by Fox 11.

Family Ties in the Conspiracy

Also implicated is her stepfather, Peter Gregory Schuman, who acted as her legal representative during the claim process. He faces two felony counts for his role in the deception and could be disbarred and sentenced to up to eight years in prison. The AP confirmed Schuman’s legal exposure and potential penalties stemming from the alleged conspiracy.
