The Department of Justice under Attorney General Pam Bondi is facing intense scrutiny after being caught in a glaring contradiction—privately telling a federal court it’s still reviewing Jeffrey Epstein’s explosive records while publicly declaring the case closed. In a July 7 court filing, Judicial Watch revealed that the DOJ and FBI claimed they were “still reviewing” records related to Epstein’s elite network, including names of high-profile clients and communications about the infamous client list. Yet, just one day earlier, a leaked DOJ/FBI memo asserted that the government had already provided the “maximum information” and would release nothing further. This blatant bait-and-switch has left many questioning whether the DOJ is actively protecting powerful figures tied to Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
“The Justice Department and FBI are sending out contradictory messages: telling the American people that no more Epstein material will be released, while telling the federal court in our case that the Epstein FOIA review is proceeding,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “We will be relentless in demanding transparency under law.”
