White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller is gloating over immigration enforcement in Los Angeles as locals begin to notice a decline in traffic jams and violent crime.
“What if, this entire time, the key to fixing our cities was enforcing our immigration laws?” he posted on X in response to a post showcasing a commute to work in Los Angeles with virtually no traffic on the road.
City residents have also posted traffic maps of the city, showcasing the absence of traffic jams and large green (meaning unimpeded) major roads.
“Dear Lord. Monday evening rush hour… it’s just gone,” posted Joshua Steinman. “Turns out the solution to LA traffic was mass deportations.”
It’s not just improvements in traffic either. LA Mayor Karen Bass faced brutal online mockery on Wednesday after celebrating an LA Times report that the city was on pace for its lowest murder rate in nearly 60 years and appearing to take credit for the development. Most of the respondents attributed the development to the National Guard’s presence.
Los Angeles became the site of violent anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) riots earlier this year, leading President Donald Trump to deploy the National Guard and U.S. Marines to restore order. The military maintains its presence in the city and ICE raids continue unimpeded.
