U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 11 illegal immigrants convicted of various sex crimes in the Minneapolis area between June 6 and June 11, 2025, according to a Department of Homeland Security statement released Wednesday.
“ICE St. Paul arrested criminal illegal aliens, all of whom are convicted sexual predators, during a coordinated targeted enforcement operation in the Minneapolis area,” the statement said.
The individuals arrested on June 6, 2025, include:
Pao Angelo Vang, Laotian, convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child.
Thong Lao, Laotian, convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child.
Tou Pao Lee, Thai, convicted of soliciting a minor.
Va Vang, Laotian, convicted of first-degree sexual assault.
Xiong Pao Vang, Laotian, convicted of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14.
Yee Shae, Thai, convicted of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor.
Dao Moua, Laotian, convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Yia Xiong, Laotian, convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
On June 10 and 11, 2025, ICE arrested:
Pok Vue, Laotian, convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Hue Nai Cheng, Laotian, convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Vang Neng Lao, Laotian, convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Assistant Secretary for ICE Tricia McLaughlin praised the operation, stating, “These pedophiles and sex offenders are the individuals our brave ICE law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to arrest and remove from American communities.”
McLaughlin criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and other officials supporting sanctuary policies, saying, “Governor Walz and his fellow sanctuary politicians are fighting to keep these sex offenders and other criminal illegal aliens in our country. Instead of comparing ICE to the Nazi Gestapo, Governor Walz should thank our law enforcement for removing these predators from Minnesota.”
The remarks referenced a May 17, 2025, graduation speech at the University of Minnesota Law School, where Walz compared ICE agents to Nazi Germany’s Gestapo, the secret police known for arresting political dissidents and enforcing early stages of the Holocaust.
“Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo is scooping folks up off the streets. They are in unmarked vans, wearing masks, being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons,” Walz said. “No chance to mount a defense, not even a chance to kiss a loved one goodbye. Just grabbed by masked agents, shoved into those vans, and disappeared.”
The arrests come amid ongoing debates over immigration enforcement and sanctuary policies in Minnesota, with critics arguing such policies hinder federal efforts to deport convicted criminals.
