Donald Trump will be visiting Texas on Friday.
He said he would have gone earlier, but didn’t want to be in the way of the rescue operations.
President Trump confirmed Monday that he will visit Texas on Friday, after more than 100 people have been confirmed dead in catastrophic floods.
The president confirmed the visit to reporters Monday evening, calling the flooding in Central Texas a “terrible event.”
Mr. Trump said Sunday that he is planning on going to Central Texas. He said he would have gone Sunday but he would be “in their way,” referring to rescuers.
The death toll from the flooding has reached over 100.
This includes 28 children.
The number of deaths from flooding in central Texas over the July Fourth weekend reached 104 on Monday.
In hard-hit Kerr County, officials said searchers have found the bodies of 84 people, including 28 children.
Nineteen deaths were reported in Travis, Burnet, Kendall, Tom Green, and Williamson counties.
Officials have said they expect the death toll to rise.
