It is not terribly shocking at all that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr recommended changes to COVID-19 vaccine protocols, and it is also not surprising to see organizations push back against these changes.
That brings us to lawsuits that were recently filed against Secretary Kennedy on this front.
Sue him!
Kennedy is under assault by, among other organizations, the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians, American Public Health Association, Infectious Diseases Society of America, Massachusetts Public Health Association, Massachusetts Public Health Alliance, and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
The suit was filed in Massachusetts, presumably in the hopes of finding a liberal judge who would side with the plaintiffs.
While plaintiffs cannot pick their judge, as they are randomly assigned, this is still considered “judge shopping,” as they have a far better chance of drawing a judge who will be sympathetic to their cause.
The suit claims that Kennedy has shown a “pattern of hostility toward established scientific processes.”
Richard Hughes IV, partner at Epstein Becker Green and lead counsel for plaintiffs, stated, “This administration is an existential threat to vaccination in America, and those in charge are only just getting started.”
He added, “If left unchecked, Secretary Kennedy will accomplish his goal of ridding the United States of vaccines, which would unleash a wave of preventable harm on our nation’s children.”
Kennedy changed HHS recommendations regarding vaccines for pregnant women and healthy children.
The HHS secretary stated, “Last year, the Biden administration urged healthy children to get yet another COVID shot, despite the lack of any clinical data to support the repeat booster strategy in children.”
There is also an unnamed woman, referred to as Jane Doe, suing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine upon guidance of her doctor (I am not exactly sure why she cannot get the vaccine if she is requesting it).
As we all know, more than one million people died in this country from COVID-19, but there have always been questions about the efficacy and safety of the vaccine.
The vaccine was rushed through trials during the first Trump administration to get it to market, but right from the outset, there were questions asked about the safety of the vaccine, especially since we did not have full trials.
As time passed, we saw complications that some associated with the vaccine, which at the very least should have been investigated to disqualify the vaccine, but both the Trump administration and the Biden administration seemed terrified to allow that to happen.
Then, during the Biden administration, dissenting voices were blatantly silenced in the name, raising even more concerns among those who had doubts about the vaccine.
Kennedy has always questioned the side effects of vaccines, and the entire left was furious when Trump put him in charge of HHS with no medical background, and now the secretary is making their worst fears come true with these challenges.
This is going to be a long fight, but I cannot wait to see if Kennedy prevails or the system shuts him down for fear of what he may uncover.
