German Adriano Llangari Inga, the Ecuadorian citizen who faced multiple felony charges stemming from a deadly Minneapolis car crash, has been deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to a statement from an ICE spokesperson “In May, Llangari Inga was charged with three felonies and two gross misdemeanors in connection to a car crash which occurred on Aug. 3, 2024.”
According to the criminal charges, Llangari Inga was driving through Minneapolis that night when he crossed a double yellow line and crashed head-on into another vehicle. The crash killed Victoria Eileen Harwell and injured two others; Harwell’s sister and Harwell’s 14-year-old daughter.
Court records say Llangari Inga had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit at the time of the crash and responding officers found three open beer bottles in his vehicle. Further, the criminal complaint says the foreign national did not have a valid license or insurance.
ICE previously informed Alpha News that Llangari Inga was unlawfully present in the United States. The federal agency also told Alpha News that ICE placed a detainer on Llangari Inga the day after the crash occurred but Hennepin County Jail did not honor the detainer and released Langari Inga on Aug. 6.
In a statement, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said “As per guidance from the MN Attorney General’s Office, HCSO cannot lawfully hold individuals in custody based solely on an administrative detainer issued by the Department of Homeland Security or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).”
After charges were filed against Llangari Inga, the 35-year-old was arrested and let out of jail when he posted a $100,000 bond. However, the Ecuadorian national was picked up by ICE shortly after his release from jail.
Prior to his deportation, Llangari Inga was being held in ICE custody at the Freeborn Adult Detention Center in Albert Lea, Minn.
