A deranged gunman with a terror slogan spray painted on his car has been killed after storming into a U.S. Border Patrol building in Texas and opening fire.
The gunman, who was identified as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, approached the Rio Grande Valley Sector Annex near McAllen International Airport early Monday morning.
Mosqueda, who was around 27 years old, was shot and killed by federal agents, McAllen Police Department chief Victor Rodriguez said during a press conference.
He was armed with an assault rifle and was wearing tactical gear when he ambushed Border Patrol agents.
‘There were many, many dozens of rounds fired by the suspect towards the building and toward agents in that building,’ Rodriguez said.
Authorities located Mosqueda’s Chevrolet two-door vehicle in a parking lot with the Latin phase ‘CORDIS DIE’ spray painted in black on the driver’s door.
The phrase is used as the name of the anarchist terror group led by Raul Menendez in Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Strike Team.
McAllen Police Department officer Ismael García, who has 10 years of service, was wounded on the knee during the shooting, Saenz said.
It’s unknown if he was struck by Mosqueda or by friendly fire.
The Department of Homeland Security later said in a statement that another police officer and a Border Patrol employee were injured in the incident.
