A Georgia man convicted of executing the mother of his child in front of their baby caused chaos in court this week after reportedly spitting at prosecutors during his sentencing.
Taco Nash, 25, was found guilty on July 2 of brutally murdering 21-year-old Mi’ckeya Montgomery after chasing her into their child’s daycare, forcing her into the woods at gunpoint, and shooting her in the head while she held their 18-month-old daughter, according to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office.
The shocking crime took place on June 15, 2022, and now, more than two years later, Nash has been sentenced to life in prison without parole, plus two additional life sentences and 60 more years behind bars.
But the drama didn’t end there. After the verdict was read, Nash allegedly spit at the prosecution team and had to be removed from the courtroom. Montgomery’s aunt, Jasmine Walters, told WSBTV, “Today was the day they got to see the real him… he’s a sociopath.”
Montgomery’s murder was the horrifying final act of what authorities described as a “tumultuous” and abusive relationship. The couple had a court order forbidding contact, and daycare workers were instructed to call 911 if Nash ever appeared. That’s exactly what staff did when Nash stormed into the facility that June morning. He then forced Montgomery, still holding their toddler, into nearby woods.
Police were able to locate the scene using phone tracking shared by Montgomery’s family. But as officers approached, they heard a single gunshot. Moments later, Nash emerged from the woods holding the blood-covered baby, claiming Montgomery had shot herself. Forensics told a different story: the angle of the gunshot wound confirmed it was homicide.
A jury convicted Nash on multiple charges including malice murder, kidnapping, aggravated stalking, cruelty to children, and weapons offenses. Despite his claims of innocence and threats to appeal, Montgomery’s family says justice was finally served.
“He’s right where he needs to be,” they said.
