During President Donald Trump’s first term, he carried out a strategic strike to take out General Soleimani, and the Democrats lost their minds.
In the current term, Trump carried out a precision strike to take out Iran’s nuclear facilities, and again, Dems sided with the terrorist nation over global safety.
Oddly enough, during former President Barack Obama’s last year in office, he approved the dropping of more than 26,000 bombs, and virtually nobody said a word.
Bombs away
In 2001, Congress passed a law that gave the president wide authority to conduct military strikes on terrorist forces, known as the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF).
That legislation was pushed to the edge by Obama, who took the liberty of including groups that were not cited in the original legislation, maintaining they were terrorist threats that came to be after 2001.
Presidents prior to Trump used these authorities to conduct operations in other countries, and they were rarely questioned.
To be clear, these are not considered acts of war, but rather precision strikes to take out a known threat, and I think we can all agree that Iran having nuclear warheads is a threat.
Now, for all of Obama’s strikes, Congress never had a say, and while there was some pushback from people like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), virtually all of Congress supported the strikes carried out by Obama, compared to half of Congress throwing a fit when Trump did it, as well as some media personalities, most notably Tucker Carlson, saying the United States was at war with Iran.
I don’t believe we were ever in danger of starting a war with Iran, and the proof is in the pudding, so to speak.
Iran did not consider the strike an act of war and retaliated by letting the United States know exactly where its retaliatory strike was going to take place and when.
Iran conducted its mission, nobody was hurt, and it was considered a wash.
Every president in modern history has stated that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and with Tehran as close as it has ever been to having one, Trump took action.
We would think that Democrats would rally behind him for having delayed the nuclear option, hopefully, allowing a peace deal with Israel as well as an agreement to block Iran from having a nuclear weapon for the foreseeable future.
Instead, Democrats want to impeach him for it, and that should tell you all you need to know about their loyalties to this country and our citizens.
They simply do not exist.
