Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says that President Donald Trump is going to fix the “ancient system” used to warn the public of dangerous weather threats.
This comes, according to the New York Post, amid the Texas flood that has claimed the lives of dozens of individuals, including children.
Reports are claiming that the system in place may have failed to provide adequate warning to the people of the area where the flood took place.

Background
The latest reports, at the time of this writing, indicate that at least 49 people have died as a result of the flooding. This number could rise, though, as many people remain unaccounted for.
Breitbart News reports:
At least 49 people have been reported dead as a result of the catastrophic flash-flooding that occurred on Friday near the city of Kerrville, Texas, after torrential rainfall overflowed the Guadalupe River to historic levels.
There are at least 15 victims who are children. The flood hit an area where there was a Christian camp, and some of the 27 children who were attending this camp are still missing.
Altogether, reports are indicating that about two dozen individuals, including children, remain missing. Search and rescue operations continue.
The Trump administration is assisting:
The Trump Administration is working with State and Local Officials on the ground in Texas in response to the tragic flooding that took place yesterday. Our Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, will be there shortly. Melania and I are praying for all of the families impacted by this horrible tragedy. Our Brave First Responders are on site doing what they do best. GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES, AND GOD BLESS TEXAS!
Trump will fix it
Noem recently participated in a press conference alongside the governor of Texas, where she said that Trump will fix the weather warning system.
“The weather is extremely difficult to predict. But also … the National Weather Service, over the years at times, has done well and at times, we have all wanted more time and more warning and more notification,” she said.
Noem added, “We needed to renew this ancient system that has been left in place with the federal government for many, many years and that is the reforms that are ongoing there.”
Speaking of the National Weather Service, it, according to the Daily Mail is facing significant criticism for failing to warn of the flooding potential.
Per the outlet, “The agency under fire over a delayed warning ahead of the floods that have killed at least 50 people in Texas had gone through massive job cuts in the months prior to the disaster.”
