On Mother’s Day weekend in 1972, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) unleashed one of the most grotesque chapters in abortion history: a mass experimental abortion event that permanently maimed women and killed their unborn children using a crude, violent device called the super coil. It happened in Philadelphia, and it was no accident. It was calculated, coordinated, and funded by the world’s largest abortion syndicate, which until July 4, 2025, had received hundreds of millions of US taxpayer dollars.
This event wasn’t just a medical tragedy; it was a brutal and bloody betrayal of women, a violation of every ethical standard in medicine, and a direct assault on human dignity. That Planned Parenthood carried out human experimentation on poor and vulnerable women in the name of advancing the “efficacy” of abortion should have ended public funding for the abortion industry right then and there. But here we are, decades later, giving them hundreds of millions of tax dollars a year, the Big Beautiful Bill has finally stopped funding the carnage.

The super coil wasn’t medicine. It was a weapon.
Invented by Harvey Karman, an abortion zealot with a Ph.D. in psychology, not a medical degree, and a criminal record for performing illegal abortions, the device was nothing more than tightly wound plastic filaments, often made of polyethylene. These sharp, spring-loaded coils wrapped in seaweed were inserted blindly into the uterus using a cannula.
In theory, once inside, the seaweed would dissolve, and the coils were then meant to “pop open” into jagged spirals. They sliced and irritated the uterine lining, shredded the baby, and dug into endometrial tissue. They hoped that this trauma would cause hemorrhaging and induce an abortion. The coils had no guidance system, no safety controls, no capacity for regulated expansion, and no regard for human anatomy. This was not surgical precision. This was blunt-force trauma administered from inside the womb.
Planned Parenthood called this barbarity: reproductive care.
The coils were neither sterile nor biodegradable. Infections, perforations, and incomplete abortions weren’t just possible theoretical outcomes; they were expected complications. Karman’s defenders conceded that the device worked only when used in conjunction with suction or surgical cleanup.
That was the entire philosophy behind it: do just enough violence to trigger the body to finish the job and walk away. It was cheap, and it was fast, and the abortionists had no concern for what came next. Fifteen low-income African American women were about to find out.
All of them were transported from Chicago to Philadelphia under a plan organized and funded by the International Planned Parenthood Federation. The so-called “demonstration project” was executed at the Philadelphia Health Federation Clinic by none other than Dr. Kermit Gosnell, that is, the infamous Dr. Gosnell, and the outcome was as expected.
It was horrific. Nine of the fifteen women suffered catastrophic complications. Two needed emergency hysterectomies. One suffered a perforated uterus. All endured physical trauma. Some never fully recovered. There were no informed consent forms disclosing that they were test subjects. No oversight. No legal recourse. This was human experimentation on American women by a taxpayer-funded entity.
Despite the carnage, no investigation was conducted. No indictments. No hearings. IPPF and its affiliates continued their operations without pause. Gosnell went on to become one of the most prolific and infamous abortionists in the country. Harvey Karman continued promoting his devices abroad.
Planned Parenthood performs over 400,000 abortions every year. That’s more than 1,000 per day. And they receive over $600 million in taxpayer funding to keep their abattoir running. Their model is volume. Their ethic is expediency. And thanks to President Trump, their taxpayer funding will now end.
Unfortunately, it came too late for the countless women who have been injured and killed in their abortion centers over the last five decades.
