Democratic Colorado Rep. Brittany Pettersen delivered a tearful rant on Thursday, claiming she was “forced” to return to Washington, D.C., to vote on President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful” bill—a landmark piece of legislation that promises to secure the border, boost American workers, and reform healthcare spending. Pettersen’s melodramatic display, however, reeks of the same liberal hysteria that has plagued the Democratic Party since Trump’s triumphant return to the White House.
‘I was forced to do my job’, has to be one of the most liberal complaints. Really sums up the entire party’s mentality, doesn’t it?
“We were forced back here. [I] took a red-eye flight, I haven’t slept. We’re here being forced back to vote on this disastrous budget proposal that is going to decimate our rural hospitals, healthcare that families, millions of families across the United States rely on and increase costs for the rest of us for the private insurance market when we have this much uncompensated care. It’s hard to hold back the tears with how bad this bill really is,” Pettersen sobbed during her press conference.
Yet, what Pettersen and her liberal allies fail to acknowledge is that this bill is a massive win for the American people. The legislation allocates $100 billion to strengthen Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and finally secure the southern border—a critical move after years of Democratic neglect allowed record-breaking illegal crossings, drug trafficking, and human smuggling. Additionally, the bill eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, putting more money in the pockets of hardworking Americans—a policy Democrats have long opposed.
While Pettersen hyperventilates over supposed “cuts” to healthcare, the reality is that the bill reforms Medicaid to prevent waste and fraud, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly. Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wasted time with a five-hour filibuster-style speech—dubbed a “magic minute”—whining about Trump’s success instead of offering real solutions.
Just got back to DC after flying over night because Donald Trump is forcing a vote on his devastating budget proposal.

The bill has already cleared the Senate in a 51-50 vote and moved through a key House procedural hurdle, with only one Republican, Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, breaking ranks. Even initial holdout Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) flipped to support the bill, recognizing its undeniable benefits for the nation.
Pettersen’s theatrics are just another example of the left’s refusal to accept that Trump’s policies work. While Democrats sob over border security and tax cuts, Americans are celebrating a stronger economy, safer communities, and a government that finally puts them first.
