“ICE is acting like a terrorist force,” Jayapal stated in her original comments. She further alleged that ICE agents were “kidnapping and disappearing people on the streets of the United States.”
Lyons strongly refuted these allegations, noting that Jayapal has a history of making irresponsible statements about law enforcement. In previous incidents, she blamed conservative rhetoric for violent attacks on ICE facilities rather than condemning the extremists who carried them out.
