Conservative commentator Candace Owens revealed Tuesday that President Donald Trump personally contacted her earlier this year regarding her public statements about French First Lady Brigitte Macron.
Owens shared extensive details of the alleged February phone conversation through a video posted on social media platforms.
The commentator stated she received the call from a Florida-based telephone number and expressed surprise upon recognizing Trump’s voice.
Owens described the moment as completely unexpected given the timing and circumstances surrounding her recent commentary series.
“Anyways, this phone call is coming from Florida. Pick up the phone and lo and behold,” she said. “It is President Donald J. Trump.”
Owens claimed Trump immediately addressed the reason for his call without typical pleasantries.
“He is calling me, and in true President Trump fashion, he jumps right into the narrative. He’s not ‘Hey, how do you do?’ He just like jumps right into the narrative of exactly how this went down,” Owens explained.
Owens expressed shock that “four days ago I am ending a series about Brigitte Macron, and now I’m speaking to the President of the United States, and the topic of conversation, no matter which way you want to slice it, is about Macron’s wife’s p***s.”
She claimed Trump requested she cease discussing the controversial topic out of consideration for Mrs. Macron’s wellbeing.
“And one of the things Trump said is like, you know, she’s old and this is really, really impacting her,” Owens stated during her presentation.
The commentator suggested Trump expressed genuine concern for the French first lady’s emotional state amid the ongoing controversy.
The commentator alleged that Trump indicated the request originated from French President Emanuel Macron himself.
Trump suggested that complying with the request could assist broader diplomatic efforts to preserve lives in Europe, according to Owens.
She claimed Trump shared his personal assessment of Mrs. Macron based on direct interaction.
She also reported that Trump told her, “She looked like a woman to me,” referring to his meetings with the French first lady.
The conservative host said Trump connected the request to ongoing international conflicts and diplomatic relations.
“He told me if I would just drop this, that it would help things along. I don’t want to get too much into the politics of it, but Ukraine, France, Russia, all of it,” Owens recounted.
Owens described pushing back against the presidential request during their conversation.
“And then I explained to him why I don’t feel so great about this request, because that’s the more important part. Like you are requesting that I really, and despite your reasoning, which is very sound, that I stop telling the truth,” she stated.
The commentator shared her direct response to Trump during the alleged phone call.
“I said to him, ‘You know, respectfully, Mr. President, it’s not my fault that he married someone with a p***s,’” Owens reported telling Trump.
Owens has maintained her position about Mrs. Macron’s background for multiple years, claiming the 72-year-old French First Lady was born male but underwent medical procedures.
Brigitte Macron has served as France’s first lady since marrying President Macron in 2007.
The French first lady recently attracted media attention in May following an incident where she appeared to strike her husband during airplane travel, Resist the Mainstream previously reported.
