EMERYVILLE, CA – Authorities are urging anyone who can identify a man believed to be linked to the disappearance of 18-year-old Marissa DiNapoli to contact Emeryville Police immediately. The search for the missing Morgan Hill teenager has gained national attention, with the FBI now involved.
Marissa, a recent high school graduate, was reported missing by her family on Saturday, June 28. Her last communication was a text message sent to her family, stating she was with a friend and would return the following day. However, she never came back.
Police have identified Martin Mendoza as a person of interest. Friends describe him as an ex-boyfriend of Marissa. Both were reportedly seen leaving a residence near Morgan Hill over the weekend, and Marissa’s car was found in the vicinity. Authorities claim Mendoza has been uncooperative during the investigation.
Concerned family and friends gathered at Uvas Reservoir to search for Marissa, a location she reportedly frequented with Mendoza. “We’re beyond worried,” said a family member. “She mentioned this place, so we’re exploring every possibility.”
A close friend of Marissa expressed disbelief and concern. “It’s insane. You never think this could happen to someone you know,” he said. “She’s outgoing. We used to hang out all the time. I hope this ends positively.”
Mendoza is believed to be driving a white Toyota Camry with license plates CW 8700 or 9351. Friends and family are convinced of his involvement. “He was the last one seen with her,” said a friend. “There’s video evidence of them together on the 29th.”
The urgency of the case has escalated from local police to the state attorney general’s office and now the FBI. Marissa’s friends are grateful for the attention but also feel heightened anxiety over the situation.
Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward as the community rallies to bring Marissa home safely.
