We are now on the scene before passing the One Big Beautiful Budget Bill called Vote-a-rama. The Senate is acting out the drama where everyone can play a part. What is Vote-a-rama?
A vote-a-rama is a legislative event that was born out of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, according to the Senate’s website.
Following a debate on a budget resolution or reconciliation bill, senators can introduce an unlimited number of amendments with each receiving a vote.
Between rules made up by the late Democrat White Supremacist Robert Byrd and these silly theater kids games like Vote-a-rama, the United States Senate is not a deliberative body, but a large circle jerk. And, the results are about the same.
The Vote-a-rama for this Republican-led Big Beautiful Budget Bill was delayed because Senator Chuck Schumer used his position as Democrat Minority Leader to require the Bill to be read aloud. Not that Schumer read it. Nah. That’s for the poor clerks who work in the Senate. Chuck Schumer will be at the Capitol Grille having a Stoli Doli.
Once that thankless and worthless task was accomplished, the useless Senators tap danced some more before moving on to the vote-a-rama. Politico picks up the plotline here:
The Senate has kicked off “vote-a-rama” — the marathon of amendment votes on the Republicans’ domestic policy megabill.
The first vote wasn’t on adoption of a specific amendment, but instead on whether Republicans can use a controversial accounting tactic to zero out the $3.8 trillion cost of extending President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts in their massive domestic policy bill.
Republicans assert that Budget Chair Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has the unilateral power to change the accounting method to the so-called current policy baseline. Yesterday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer moved to force a simple-majority vote on undoing the change; it’s expected to fail along party lines.
“Every senator will soon have an opportunity to reject this nonsense and vote for common-sense budgeting,” Schumer said on the floor Monday morning. “Americans will be watching.”
The vote has high stakes for Republicans because without the accounting change, Finance Committee provisions would increase the deficit by much more than the $1.5 trillion cap set out in the budget blueprint Senate Republicans adopted earlier this year.
Ahead of the voting, Senate Majority Leader John Thune underscored the need to address the expiring tax cuts: “This is about extending that tax relief, so the same people that benefited from it back in 2017 and for the last eight years don’t end up having a colossal, massive tax increase hitting them in the face come Jan. 1.”
“Current policy baseline”? Don’t ask Google about it. Seems like when scoring a bill you assume policies and procedures remain in place.
The Senate’s 53-47 vote to use the current policy baseline is likely good news for the “Big, Beautiful Bill” passing, as it reduces the perceived fiscal impact and aligns with the bill’s tax cut goals. This procedural win shows majority support, aiding passage under…

Since they can’t mess with our “fixed costs”, how will they ever cut the deficit? Can’t get rid of waste, fraud and abuse. We must keep illegal immigrants on the gravy train of Medicaid and Free College Tuition.
Here, Chuck Schumer aka Nurse Ratched plans his punishments and gleefully rubs his claws before they One Beautiful Bill will be voted upon:
Go ahead, Sweet Sunshine. Payback is a beyotch.
Schumer’s time is almost over. We know it. He knows it. Democrats only have overripe retreads. Republicans have fresh young faces that will ascend to the leadership and, hopefully, get rid of the shite, silly rules that have ruined the Senate.
The Vote-a-rama will end, just like reading the bill aloud finally ended. Then the One Big Beautiful Bill will be voted on. It is a looooong way from perfect, but it’s our imperfection and it isn’t a consarned Continuing Reso-freaking-lution.
We can then lower the curtain and strike the set on this badly written play.
