On Sunday night, Netanyahu held a cabinet meeting at the IDF’s Southern Command in Beersheba to discuss the Gaza conflict and a potential hostage agreement. According to reports, Defence Minister Israel Katz, various ministers, Netanyahu’s aides, and senior IDF officers were in attendance. The meeting concluded without a decision on ending the Gaza war and a potential hostage deal. Israel Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer is set to meet with U.S. officials in Washington this week (Monday), ahead of indirect negotiations in Cairo, facing pressure from the Trump administration to resolve the Gaza conflict. Ron Dermer serves as not only Netanyahu’s principal political ally but also as a key member of Israel’s Security Cabinet and BB’s primary lobbyist in Washington. The Jerusalem Post confirmed in their JUNE 22, 2025, report that “Trump only planned to bomb nuclear facilities in Fordow – but was convinced by Netanyahu and Dermer to target Natanz and Isfahan.”It was Dermer who coordinated Israel’s strategy against the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. His influence had already played a role in the US decision to withdraw from it in 2018. While he often operates away from the public eye, he has been one of the select individuals who significantly contributed to Israel’s efforts in the war against Iran, particularly in persuading the United States to become involved in the conflict.
Reportedly, Ron Dermer intends to use this visit to DC to address military operations in the Gaza Strip, the ongoing conflict with Iran, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled visit to the White House in July. Contextualy, this visit follows a letter directed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UNSC President Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, in which Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged the council to fulfil its duty in preserving international peace and security, calling on the UN to acknowledge Israel and the U.S. as the aggressor, which should entitle Iran to compensation and reparation. Coincidentally, Iran’s leading Shiite cleric, the Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazihas, has proclaimed today a fatwa designating Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu as enemies of Islam.
Key challenges remain, including Hamas’s call for a permanent ceasefire and urgent changes to aid delivery systems, which the resistance group describes are unsafe for Gaza residents. Additionally, Netanyahu is expected to visit the U.S. soon to advance a broader diplomatic initiative aimed at ending the Gaza conflict and normalising relations with more Muslim-majority countries. President Donald Trump has called on both parties to reach an agreement, stating on Truth Social: “Make the deal in Gaza. Get the hostages back.” Additionally, Trump has openly urged Israeli prosecutors to dismiss the charges against Netanyahu, referencing the Prime Minister’s involvement in discussions with Hamas. The US president is said to be aiming to broaden the Abraham Accords by incorporating nations such as Syria and Saudi Arabia on the strength of a claimed containment of Iran, which he hopes might motivate additional countries to establish normalised relations with Israel. The announcement of a meeting between Ahmed al-Sharaa (Jolani), the former Al-Qaeda chief in Syria, who currently serves as Syria’s interim President, and Benjamin Netanyahu, on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in New York, is believed to be imminent. It is not clear if al-Sharaa will be demanding the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Golan Heights; however, it is anticipated that he will demand that Israel vacate southern Syria.
The American strategy for securing a comprehensive agreement that encompasses the repatriation of war prisoners, the cessation of hostilities in Gaza, and advancements in regional normalisation necessitates discussions that ultimately require a framework and roadmap for concluding the conflict, including a prisoner’s release agreement, and Israel’s stipulations for any post-conflict negotiations with Iran. Dermer’s responsibility will be to negotiate these conditions with the US administration, as Trump appears to be losing patience with the public relations catastrophe that the Gaza Genocide has become for both Israel and the US. These two accomplices have arrived at a pivotal moment, compelling them to confront the reality and the evident shift following the 12-day conflict, and the most significant humanitarian crisis and genocide of the 21st century, for which the majority of the world is holding them responsible. We can no longer doubt that the Hebrew State and the US have orchestrated, funded, and executed an illegal war against Iran and the holocaust strategy against the Palestinian people, solely to fulfil their hegemonic aspirations in the region and their quest for dominance over the rapidly expanding BRICS coalition. Americans are not being informed about the reasons behind Israel’s decision to enter into a ceasefire with Iran, despite the mounting evidence of the damage caused by Iran’s ballistic missiles in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Although mainstream media have played a significant role in obscuring the truth about the 12-day war, it can be argued that Israel’s defeat by Iran and the humanitarian ‘cul-de-sac’ predicament in Gaza may have intensified the urgency for the United States to exert pressure on Israel. urging it to seek a peaceful resolution to its unlawful war of aggression.

Reports: US planning to pressure Israeli minister to end Gaza war:
Ron Dermer’s visit to Washington aimed at getting US and Israel on same page before ceasefire negotiations, says Israeli media
JERUSALEM/ISTANBUL: Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, who is visiting Washington, DC on Monday, is expected to face pressure to reach a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in the Gaza Strip, according to reports in the Israeli press.
The Times of Israel cited sources as saying that the remaining sticking points in achieving a ceasefire include the Palestinian group Hamas’s demand for a permanent end to the war, as opposed to Israel’s efforts to secure a temporary ceasefire that leaves open the option for it to resume fighting.
They also said that Hamas is demanding a return to old mechanisms for distributing humanitarian aid or the establishment of a new system to replace the current one managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a proposition backed by Arab mediators.
Israel says GHF, an Israeli- and US-backed private mechanism, is essential in preventing the diversion of aid by Hamas, but it has forced Gazans to walk long distances in order to pick up food while also crossing Israeli army lines, coming under deadly fire on a near-daily basis, the Times of Israel reported.
Israel’s Haaretz newspaper, citing senior White House officials, reported that senior officials from US President Donald Trump’s team will pressure Dermer to reach an agreement on “ending the attacks on Gaza and returning the remaining prisoners.” It was also reported that US officials would tell Dermer that Israel’s insistence on “eliminating Hamas” would be left for the future.
The Yedioth Ahronoth daily also reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent statement that the rescue of Israeli hostages in Gaza had become a primary focus, rather than repeating his goal of “eliminating Hamas” suggested a shift in his priorities.
Channel 12, citing Israeli sources, reported that the army has asked the government to determine the next step in the war.
The report said the next step could be either completing control over Gaza or reaching a prisoner exchange agreement and claimed that the army prefers the second option. The report emphasised that Dermer’s trip was also planned in preparation for Netanyahu’s visit to Washington, expected to take place in the next two weeks, and said the US wanted an agreement to be reached before Netanyahu’s trip.
Channel 13 also reported that the army had informed the government that there were no significant targets left in Gaza that could be reached without endangering the lives of the remaining hostages after nearly 19 months of ground attacks.
Trump, who announced an end to the Israel-Iran conflict on June 23 with a ceasefire that began on June 24 after 12 days of fighting, shared a message saying: “Make a deal in Gaza, bring back the (Israeli) hostages,” which was interpreted as a message to Netanyahu.
