Not long after the strike against Iran, a low-confidence intelligence report was leaked that gave the picture that the damage was not quite as extensive as Trump believed.
Now, satellite imagery has surfaced, showing activity at the Fordow site, which is believed to be the most consequential of them.
Leaked Intelligence
We are starting to get a much better picture of how that leaked report came to be.
This weekend, Defense Secretary Hegseth announced that the leaked report was an immediate assessment of whether another strike needed to be ordered or not.
Hegseth explained, “Actually, the report that was discussed, this preliminary report, was called a ‘restrike report.’
“It comes to us to give us an assessment whether a target would need to be restruck, right? That’s the reason why. So, it’s based on [an] internal feedback loop that we’re supposed to have access to. Unfortunately, someone took advantage of that.”
New Images
Hegseth had been plagued by controversies and leaks since he took over the Pentagon, and I am sure that Trump is not happy about that leak, nor will he be too thrilled with satellite photos that were recently published.
The images are of the Fordow site, showing several workers and what appears to be cranes working by the entrance of the site. There were also several other vehicles in that area.
While the media is already speculating on the imagery, we have no real knowledge of what is taking place here, but this will still be a nightmare for Trump because we know speculation will run rampant now.
This could be workers assessing the damage, or it could be Iran already going to work to try to clear the entrance to see if Fordow is salvageable. I just wish the mainstream media would use the same caution I am when reporting this.
Trump Pushes Back
For days now, Donald Trump has been pushing back against these reports, but those satellite images are only going to give him more to explain.
Trump is getting a bit more dramatic in his explanation, recently stating, “I don’t want to use an example of Hiroshima, I don’t want to use an example of Nagasaki, but that was essentially the same thing – that ended a war.”
The reality of this is that we have no idea what the damage was at this point, at it will take some time to find out the extent of damage done by the strikes, but I think we can all agree that significant damage was done, we just know if those sites are completely inoperable or if they need to be cleared to be accessed again.
I really wish Trump would not be so defensive on this to protect himself, just in case the assessments come back at less than what he is saying. It may come off as me taking a shot at him, but that is not the case. I just know the media takes every word he says literally, and if he is wrong, he will never live it down.
