AManhattan jury began deliberating Monday in the federal government’s sex trafficking case against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
After hearing the accounts of 34 witnesses, the jury convened to decide on the case.
Combs was arrested in September 2024 and faces charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking related to two of his ex-girlfriends, and transportation for the sake of prostitution, according to the Associated Press.
After 10 minutes of deliberation Monday morning, the jury sent a note indicating that the group of eight men and four women had elected a foreperson.
At Thursday’s closings, Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik addressed the jury, according to a report from the Associated Press.
“Over the last several weeks, you’ve learned a lot about Sean Combs. He’s the leader of a criminal enterprise. He doesn’t take no for an answer. And now you know about many crimes the defendant committed with members of his enterprise: Kidnapping of one of the defendant’s employees; arson by trying to blow up a car; forced labor, including of an employee the defendant repeatedly sexually assaulted; bribery of a security officer to keep damning evidence against the defendant buried; and of course, the brutal crimes at the heart of this case – sex trafficking,” she said.
Combs’s defense told the jurors their client is “not a racketeer. He is not a conspirator to commit racketeering. He is none of these things. He is innocent. He sits there innocent. Return him to his family, who have been waiting for him.”
