On Wednesday June 18, Pro-Iran activists gathered near the White House for an anti-Trump protest organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) and Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL). Loomer Unleashed was present on the scene and captured exclusive footage. The group prominently displayed the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a nation designated by the U.S. government as a state sponsor of terrorism since 1984. The demonstrators, linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, chanted anti-American slogans and voiced their support for the Palestinian Intifada.
Pro-Iran Groups Target Trump in D.C. Protest
Protesters donned keffiyehs and burqas, waved Iranian flags, and chanted “Long live the Intifada” for over two hours. Despite a brief downpour that interrupted the event, spirits remained high as demonstrators continued their anti-American rhetoric. Ironically, the background of the protest was framed by a large American flag flying in the background, a flag that was recently installed on the White House lawn by President Trump.
Radical Organizers and Violent Affiliations
Flyers promoting the event circulated on Instagram, clearly identifying PYM and PSL as the lead organizers. Moreover, the Party for Socialism and Liberation has come under fire for its connections to Elias Rodriguez, a pro-Hamas activist who fatally shot two Israeli embassy staff outside the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on May 21, 2025. Rodriguez was affiliated with PSL at the time of the attack.
Funding Behind Pro-Iran Anti-Trump Activism
Investigations into the Palestinian Youth Movement’s financial backing reveal a web of progressive funders. Specifically, WESPAC, a New York-based nonprofit, serves as PYM’s fiscal sponsor. WESPAC has received funding through the Tides Foundation, a grant-making organization backed by George Soros’s Open Society Foundations.
According to public records and analysis by the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC), the Open Society Foundations granted Tides over $13.7 million between 2016 and 2022. Of that, $132,000 was directly allocated to WESPAC.
Ties to the Muslim Brotherhood
WESPAC’s financial network extends beyond PYM. According to a report published in the U.S. Congressional Record by the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism, WESPAC also funds Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Further, this same report asserts that SJP has ideological connections to the Muslim Brotherhood—a group that, consequently, multiple members of Congress are seeking to label a terrorist organization.
Loomer’s Advocacy Sparks Legislative Action
Journalist Laura Loomer has repeatedly questioned Democratic lawmakers. In recent weeks, Loomer has questioned Maxine Waters (D-CA), Ted Lieu (D-CA), and Jamie Raskin (D-MD) about their positions on designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization. However, all have declined to comment. Rep. Raskin physically ran away from Laura Loomer to dodge her questions.
On June 13, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) introduced the Muslim Brotherhood Is a Terrorist Organization Act, following a meeting on Capitol Hill with Loomer. The bill cites growing security concerns tied to the group’s Islamist ideology.
Red-Green Alliance Grows Bolder
The emerging alliance between far-left activist groups and Islamist movements, often referred to as the “red-green alliance,” continues to gain visibility in Washington, D.C. and major cities across the US. The unwillingness of key Democrat lawmakers to confront these ties raises questions about their political will to defend national security interests over ideological alliances. Congressional Democrats seem unfazed by Pro-Iran flags flown during anti-Trump protests at the White House. Furthermore, the growing alliance between Pro-Iran activists and far-left groups behind anti-Trump protests signals a dangerous shift in U.S. political activism.
As legislative momentum builds, the American public will soon see where members of Congress truly stand on the issue of Islamic terrorism. The decision to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization could reshape and redefine the limits of acceptable political alliances in the US. Moreover, it will be revealing to observe which Congressional Democrats support or oppose designation efforts. The outcome of designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization will have significant implications for both national security and U.S. foreign policy.
