A New York City led by socialist Zohran Mamdani would spark a two-pronged breakdown in public safety — soaring crime and mass NYPD defections — experts and veteran officers told the New York Post.
Despite Mamdani’s late campaign reversal insisting he won’t “defund the police” or shrink the department, critics say it’s mere political theater aimed at undecided voters, the New York Post reported.
Scott Munro of the NYPD Detectives’ Endowment Association told the New York Post “The city would be totally unsafe … I go to bed and worry about the phone ringing. I’m worried about my members getting killed,” Munro said.
“You put a guy like him in there, our people are going to get hurt, and nobody’s going to want the job. It’s going to put recruitment back five more steps.”
