Brutal Alley Ambush

Officers responded to a “subject with weapon” call, which was upgraded to “shots fired” en route. Upon entering an alley, both were unexpectedly fired upon. WISN confirmed the ambush left one officer critically wounded and the other with non-life-threatening injuries. Assistant Chief Nicole Waldner noted that neither officer returned fire, and both have approximately six years of service with the department.

Suspect Arrested, Investigation Ongoing

A known suspect was taken into custody early Friday without incident. ABC News reported that charges are pending and will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney. Mayor Cavalier Johnson condemned the violence and pledged full support for the investigation, warning the perpetrator: “The men and women of this department… are going to find you.”

The Milwaukee Police Association issued a strong rebuke, noting that this is the fourth officer shot in five months and calling the surge in attacks “out of hand.”
