Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and journalist Lauren Sanchez concluded their three-day, star-studded wedding celebration with a lavish pajama party on Saturday, June 28 in Italy. The party reportedly took place at the Arsenale, a shipyard in Venice.
The newlyweds were spotted leaving their luxury hotel on Venice’s Grand Canal, ready for the final night of festivities.
Guests, including those dressed in pajamas, traveled by small boats to the event, where the bride and groom greeted guests and shared a kiss.
The couple exchanged rings on Friday evening on the island of San Giorgio, with notable guests including Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, Oprah Winfrey, and members of the Kardashian family in attendance.
The ceremony featured a performance by Matteo Bocelli, and the bride wore a Dolce & Gabbana dress inspired by Sophia Loren’s wedding dress in “Houseboat.” Fox News reported that Sanchez’s three children were also part of the ceremony. Her sons, Nikko and Evan, walked her down the aisle. Her daughter, Ella, was maid of honor.
The total price tag on the celebration is estimated to be around $50 million.
Protests continue
Meanwhile, around 1,000 activists and residents marched in protest of the event. On Tuesday, June 24, protestors claimed a victory as the venue was moved from Cannaregio’s Scuola Grande della Misericordia to the Arsenale.
Despite the protests, Bezos and Sanchez made attempts to support the local community through their wedding invitation. The couple asked for donations to select Venetian charities in lieu of gifts.
