An investigation is underway in Ohio after a 5-year-old boy was allegedly left in a hot car on Thursday.
According to WBNS, Mansfield police officers responded to reports of an unresponsive child in a vehicle. First responders arrived to find the boy in his mother’s arms before he was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Though it is unconfirmed how long the boy was in the vehicle, police said they believe he was there for several hours. The incident remains under investigation, according to WLWT.
If confirmed, Thursday’s incident is the ninth hot-car death this year. According to No Heat Stroke, 39 children died in hot cars in 2024.
