RURAL OREGON REPUBLICANS STAND TOGETHER DESPITE ONE PARTY RULE
By Oregon Rural House Republicans,
SALEM, Ore. – Rural Oregon Republicans are proud to represent the resilient, hardworking people of our region in the Oregon State Legislature. Despite being in the minority, we have consistently delivered meaningful victories for our communities by focusing on principled leadership, strategic collaboration, and unwavering commitment to the values that matter most to rural Oregonians—freedom, economic opportunity, and local control.
Representative Greg Smith (R-Heppner), Representative Rick Lewis (R-Silverton), Representative Shelly Boshart Davis (R-Albany), Representative Vikki Breese Iverson (R-Prineville), Representative Mark Owens (R-Crane), Representative Bobby Levy (R-Echo), Representative Gerald ‘Boomer’ Wright (R-Coos Bay), Representative Jeff Helfrich (R-Hood River), Representative Emily McIntire (R-Eagle Point) made the following statement:
“Governing in the minority requires ingenuity, determination, and a deep understanding of the issues facing rural Oregon. In the 2025 Legislative Session, we have successfully championed policies that protect our agricultural heritage, repealed wildfire insurance maps, securing wildfire funding while relaxing the tax burden on property owners, streamlining home building, and finalizing long term wolf predation funding. By standing together we will continue to win. Engaging in good-faith negotiations, and standing firm on our core principles, we’ve secured victories that strengthen rural Oregon’s economy and way of life for future generations.”
However, with Republicans in the minority and Portland Democrats controlling the majority, rural Oregon will suffer some losses. Today, that came in the form of Senate Bill 243, which attempts to weaken the 2nd amendment. Rural Oregon House Republicans remain vigilant on 2nd amendment rights for rural Oregon and are excited to announce House Bill 3076 was defeated today. HB 3076 would have severely hampered gun dealers in Oregon from selling guns.
“We may be in the minority, but our impact is undeniable. Together, we will continue to deliver results that give all of rural Oregon—a stronger voice.”
