In another case of unelected bureaucrats running the show, the Senate parliamentarian ruled on Wednesday against Republican language in the One Big Beautiful Bill to stop funding abortions with tax dollars under Obamacare health plans.
Taxpayer funding of abortions under Obamacare has been an issue for years since the controversial Affordable Care Act (ACA)Â was passed many years ago.
The Republican language in the bill would restrict the ACA’s cost-sharing subsidies from lowering the costs of plans that pay to kill babies in approximately a dozen states such as Connecticut, Michigan and New Mexico, where abortions are allowed up to birth and taxpayers are forced to fund killing babies.
However, the Senate Parliamentarian, Elizabeth MacDonough, rejected that and a few other provisions of the bill.

Senate Republicans are still drafting final changes to the massive budget reconciliation bill that Senate Majority Leader John Thune is expected to bring to the Senate floor on Friday.
The beauty of the reconciliation bill, which defunds Planned Parenthood and Big Abortion for 10 years, is that it allows Republicans to get the legislation passed with just a majority vote. But if Republicans don’t pull provisions out that MacDonough requires them to remove, Democrats can require the 60 votes needed to pass it as it no longer qualifies as a reconciliation bill. That would likely kill the bill.
The Parliamentarian’s advice is based on whether a provision is appropriate for reconciliation and conforms to the limitations of the Byrd Rule; it is not a judgment on the relative merits of a particular policy. The Byrd Rule would allow Democrats to raise a 60 vote point of order that could make passing the bill more difficult if the provisions are not removed.
